Gateway School Appoints New Headteacher

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathan Coke as Head of Gateway School from Easter 2025.

Jonathan is currently Head of St. Christopher’s Prep School In North-West London having worked in Senior Leadership roles for the last eleven years. Prior to this, Jonathan was Deputy Head at Beechwood Park School in Hertfordshire and also Director of Marketing and communications for a Prep School in West London. Before moving into teaching, Jonathan had a successful career in Sports Journalism and semi professional football.

Jonathan would like to share the following message with the children, parents and staff at Gateway School;

“I am thrilled to have been chosen to lead Gateway School. Gateway is a real family and community School, and this was very important for me alongside the academic, pastoral and co-curricular strategic direction that further attracted me to this role. I am looking forward to working with the incredible team of caring and dedicated staff who I met during the interview process. I bring with me a passion for academic rigour and a desire to continue with the broad range of co-curricular opportunities that makes independent school education so unique. I am looking forward to meeting all the pupils and their families in due course, and continue to build on the successes of Mrs Bufton-Green.”

Jonathan spends most of his free time with his family and enjoys trips to the theatre, watching films and reading books. Jonathan also has a passion for sport, particularly football, and is the official taxi driver for his sons’ academy football and modelling careers!

Jonathan will be visiting the school on a number of occasions throughout this academic year, allowing time for an effective and smooth handover.

The interim Headteacher for the Spring term will be Sam Selby, Education Director at Bellevue Education. Prior to joining the central team Sam was the Headteacher of Norfolk House School in Muswell Hill for 5 years, an 11+ prep school that sends children to grammar and independent schools across London and Hertfordshire. Sam spends most of her time on the ground in our schools and has worked closely with the senior team at Gateway. Sam will be spending time at  the school to meet the community in the coming weeks.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cath for all the work she has done at the school over the past four years. Cath has innovated throughout her time at the school, ensuring it has moved forward. She is looking forward to this final term, knowing that both Jonathan and Sam will build on her work.

We look forward to welcoming Jonathan to the Gateway School and Bellevue Education family!
