Mrs Rebecca Izard

Rebecca studied singing and piano at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. With a love for the performing arts, she has dedicated over 30 years to teaching and nurturing young talents. She completed a Masters in Music Education at the University of Westminster.

Rebecca’s career at Gateway School commenced as a Music Specialist, where she taught students from Reception to Year 6. She became Head of Performing Arts and developed the music and drama curriculum across the school.  She has been part of the Senior Leadership Team since 2006, first as Head of Staff and more recently as Head of Community and Operations.

In her multifaceted role, Rebecca collaborates closely with the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the smooth daily operation of the school. She is responsible for organising and managing various events and workshops for parents to foster a strong sense of community. Rebecca actively liaises with Friends of Gateway to support and promote their events throughout the year, encouraging staff involvement and participation. Rebecca is instrumental in forging and developing local, national, and international links for the school and oversees the Pupil Parliament and its associated committees, empowering students to have a voice in school affairs.

As the Educational Visits Coordinator and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Rebecca plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students. As well as her leadership responsibilities, she continues to share her passion for music by teaching students in Years 4, 5, and 6.

Before joining Gateway School, Rebecca taught at Edgbaston High School for Girls as a specialist Music teacher to Years 4 – 8.
