Preschool enjoy some outdoor sunshine

It has been a very busy last week of the term. Thankfully we have enjoyed some bright, warmer weather which has allowed us to spend some quality time in our outdoor areas. The children have been riding the trikes, balance bikes and scooters around the garden developing their core balance and coordination. They had some great ideas for an obstacle course using the tyres, large blocks, slide, hoops and tunnel. The children crawled, balanced and climbed in and out of the equipment.

Preschool have been introduced to our Take one Picture painting - ‘Men of the Docks’ by George Bellows. We have taken some ideas from their thoughts on the painting and will be planning some fun and engaging activities for them for after half term. The children particularly noticed the different transport, what the men were doing and the colour of the sky.

The Snail and Whale story telling event enabled to immerse ourselves in the story once again this week. We have been looking at the world and identifying hot and cold climates and the animals that live in those climates. The children have used their amazing imaginations to make spiral patterns inspired by snails. Snail snacks were on the menu with the children using healthy food to create their very own snail.

During the half term you may like to look at the ‘Men of the Docks’ painting with your child and perhaps record any of their ideas about the painting on tapestry. We will then aim to incorporate their ideas in our week of creativity.

Have a lovely half term.
