“Dinoland- I love it!” said Xavier as he entered our world of dinosaurs. The children have been busy digging for fossils, identifying dinosaurs and becoming little paleontologists. The children in Preschool loved our numbered dinosaur feet and have been following the trail counting and naming the numbers they can see, leading them to our dinosaur den role play area. They have also enjoyed building a volcano out of papier mache which we are all waiting in anticipation for it to erupt at some point next week.
We have observed lots of lovely role play opportunities with the Reception children being superb role models and extending the Preschool children’s play. If you have any interesting dinosaur books or artifacts to support our dinosaur area please send it in with your child and ensure anything you send in is named.
This week we have continued to learn about our emotions, thinking about how our actions affect others. This was extended in Mr Mitchener’s music session where the children learned a new song called My Face. They sang about happy, sad, tired and surprised faces and the feelings associated with these. Please encourage this learning at home by supporting your child to think about others feelings as well as their own and share with us on Tapestry.
We have started exploring Autumn by looking at Autumnal books and talking about what changes to expect, what we might see and things to look out for. We will continue to explore and investigate Autumn activities next week where the children will have the opportunity to go on nature walks, collect natural resources and take part in crafts activities as well as looking at information books to support our play and learning in Preschool. We will be spending our time exploring the outdoor environment in all weather opportunities so please ensure your child has a pair of wellies and waterproof coat/ clothing in case of inclement weather. We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend ready for next week.
