Preschool explore the change in the weather

The frosty mornings this week have supported our Winter theme with the children. Toby excitedly saw the frost in the garden and said that Jack Frost had been in the night! We have been exploring the change in weather and discussing lots of words to describe the cold weather. Grayson has taken on the role of Jack Frost very seriously and has been using his magic to spread ice cold air across Preschool. The children have created their own frosty scene using paint and glitter.

Children have been very interested in the magnets this week and following this interest, we created a 'magnetic or not?' activity. The children used the magnets to explore different objects and find out which ones they could pick up. Lots of discussion was had, with children noticing the properties of magnetic objects such as shiny, hard and magnet-y!

Children have also had lots of fun posting letters in our post office role play area. They matched numbered envelopes to corresponding post boxes and looked carefully at the addresses and any sounds they recognised. We were also inspired to write our own very important letters - to Santa! The children had some great ideas and their letters will be on display around Preschool next week.

As the Christmas fayre is happening next Saturday, 30 November, Preschool will be in full swing creating lots of decorations and designing Father Christmas’s grotto. Lots of glitter, stars and Christmas trees will be adding to the excitement. Please don’t forget to come along. We would be grateful for any decorations you may have at home to support this area.

The Preschool team would like to thank all the parents who have attended parents consultations this week. If you were unable to attend and would like an appointment, please see your child’s Key Person to arrange a time to meet.
