Preschool - Fantasy and adventure

The start of the Spring term has been jam-packed full of curiosity and imagination in Preschool! All the children have settled back in well after the Christmas break and have enjoyed sharing stories from home and excitedly letting us share the magic of spending time with their families.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new children and their families. We very much look forward to getting to know everyone and providing the children with lots of learning opportunities based on their interests. We cannot wait to see where their imagination takes us.

This term has kicked off with our exciting new topic of fantasy and adventure. The first week has transformed the children into fairies and elves as we’ve practised our magical mark making skills in the fairy dust, imaginatively played with the indoor fairy garden and even practised our number ordering and recognition by seeking out pesky fairies and elves. We took a stroll down to the Forest School where we searched for real life fairies and made some tiny houses from sticks and leaves to shelter them from the frost we have seen this week.

Over the coming weeks we will be transforming into brave knights, diving deep into the depths of the ocean to discover mermaids and pirates, we’ll conjure up magic spells and rocket into space to find out if aliens really do exist.

The Pre-Reception children have started their transitioning process and regularly head over to the Reception classroom during their phonics sessions to help them prepare for September. During these sessions, the children have been fascinated by the sounds they can make with their bodies and have been exploring whether they can make these sounds louder or quieter.

We look forward to sharing some more of our learning opportunities with you through our tapestry platform. Please continue to add to your child’s profiles as we love seeing and sharing the snapshots as a group.
