Preschool - Goldilocks maths, habitats and Thanksgiving
We have had another fun filled week in Preschool!
We used the story of goldilocks to create a role play experience with the children. Mrs Winfield told the story and then we recreated this in the home corner. The children used masks to dress up as the characters and the area was transformed into the three bears house. This gave us the opportunity to practise our language of size with small, medium and large beds, chairs and bowls.
We used the children’s interests in animals to spark a theme of play on our ‘wonderful Wednesday’ afternoon. Miss Atenio talked to the children about where animals live and we created different habitats in the room. The children then became zoo keepers and helped the preschool animals to find their way to their correct home environment. There was lots of discussion about why animals live in different places and how to tell where they come from.
As it was Thanksgiving this week, we have been talking about what we are thankful for. Xavier was thankful for his friends, George said he was thankful for his family, and Kit said he was thankful for his Mummy.
The children have also been very busy practising their Christmas performance and they are all doing so well. Your child’s part has been posted on Tapestry and we will be filming the performance on the 4th December in the morning. We will be in touch very soon with more information regarding timings. Please could you bring your child’s costume in by Monday, if you have not done so already, as we would like to practise in their costumes during the week.
It was lovely to see so many parents join us for our virtual parents evenings. We hope you found them useful and, as we discussed in the meetings, please do feel free to contact us any time by phone or email if you would like to discuss anything about your child. I hope you have all managed to have a look at your child’s Aspire sheets, if you have any problems please get in touch.
