Preschool meet a few new animals
Preschool have had lots of fun learning about self care routines this week. We learned the song ‘Here we go round the mulberry bush’ and talked about our own morning routines. Children then had a go at organising these picture cards in the correct sequence. Children discussed lots about their morning routines, including what they have for breakfast and if they get themselves dressed. As part of this, we talked about the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day for two minutes. Children then had the opportunity to practise this with real toothbrushes and toothpaste on laminated teeth. We watched the two minute timer two minutes on the ipad and learnt that it is quite a long time when you’re counting it down!
On Friday, the children had a wonderful experience of meeting new animals in Preschool. These included a tortoise, two guinea pigs, two giant African land snails and a ferret! As you can imagine, this prompted lots of discussion and excitement. We hope you enjoy looking at the photos on Tapestry and talking to your children about this experience.
In maths, children have begun to explore practical addition in preparation for beginning number sentences. It’s so important to secure this knowledge using concrete objects first and using number songs in order for children to really understand the concept of adding two groups together to find the total.
Next week we will continue practical addition and explore more self care routines including healthy eating, hand washing and getting dressed.
Thank you for your continued support and have a lovely weekend.
