Reception - 3...2...1… Blast off!

This week in Reception has been astronomical! Our space topic has well and truly lifted off and we have been developing our team work skills through painting, sticking, maneuvering and building a rocket and an accompanying space station. We’ve used this during our afternoon activities, role playing astronauts and aliens and it has also proven a very inspiring stimulus for some non-fiction writing.

In English, we have continued to focus on the text ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy, following a baby bear’s expeditions into space and back again. In Maths, we have begun our topic on measuring and have spent time exploring the terms ‘long’ and ‘short’. We have measured everything from block towers to paper strips to sticks and have really developed our skills putting different objects into size order.
