Reception - Amazon… | Independent Primary School Buckinghamshire

Reception - Amazon adventures

As ever, Reception class have been working super hard this week! Between our special spelling and Maths and English challenges, we’ve been exploring the Amazon Rainforest.

Both classrooms and the conservatory have been covered in all sorts of animals, from slithering snakes to fantastic frogs to a fair few mischievous monkeys. We’ve been doing the rainforest boogie, comparing lengths of snakes and writing about the wonderful creatures we have encountered.

The children have spent time studying the different layers of the Amazon rainforest and creating beautiful diagrams to demonstrate these, they’ve loved writing about their favourite animals and even building a miniature rainforest out of Lego; inspiring many discussions over who could build the tallest tree or the longest croc.

We’ve created super cards for our favourite superhero in preparation for a special day on Sunday, too.

Luckily though, both classes were able to enjoy a brief moment of calm in the school library and take a book back to the class for teachers to read next week.

The end of term may be creeping ever closer, but it’s always busy and bundles of fun down here!
