Reception children learn about Diwali
This week in Reception, we have thoroughly enjoyed learning lots about Diwali, especially when we had a visit from Mrs Jutla on Thursday. We looked at beautiful saris, talked about delicious food and family celebrations and the teachers had mehndi patterns drawn on their hands with henna. We even had a go at making our own diva lamps out of clay and then decorated them. We heard all about the story of Rama and Sita and Ravanna, the King with 10 heads! We were very impressed with the children on Friday when they recited their poem ‘The Toys Playtime’ to Mrs Kemp. We can tell you had tried so hard both at home as well as at school to learn the poem and used lots of intonation and expression. Well done everyone! The next thing to start learning over the weekend are the words for the Christmas production ‘The sleepy Shepherd’. Rehearsals for this are starting next week so please make sure you have made a good effort to learn the words.
