Reception - Growth and amazing animals

Reception has been working really hard and has been thinking all about how plants grow. They wrote careful instructions on how to plant a seed and had great fun following these instructions to help them to plant sunflower seeds. The sunflower seeds are now all at home and the children have said that they will make sure to water them daily and take good care of them.

Reception has started their new topic of Amazing Animals where we looked at We’re Going On A Bear Hunt. The children worked well together to create their own versions, we had a unicorn hunt, an alligator hunt and even a dino hunt. We discussed how they could successfully perform their own versions and watched Michael Rosen perform ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’ to magpie a few ideas. The children did fantastically well and were very expressive during their performances to the class.

‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’ got the class thinking about where in the world bears live. They were amazed by how many different types of bears there are and they learnt lots about where different countries are on the world map. They are all really excited to continue our new topic and we have had endless discussions and questions about a variety of animals.
