Reception children have another busy and varied week

The children have coped extremely well with their timetable this week, as we have begun our formal Maths and phonics teaching.

We were very impressed with the children's writing on Monday. They discussed what they did at the weekend. Then they drew a picture and wrote a sentence about their experiences. The children also enjoyed Dough Disco which is helping to strengthen their muscles for writing.

In Maths the children have been learning how to sort objects. They began by describing objects and enjoyed playing Odd One Out games. Next they practised how to sort objects by colour, size and type.

In RE this week the children have been learning about Harvest Festivals. They have investigated different fruits and vegetables and learnt how to sort them. They have made repeating patterns with harvest pictures. The children have enjoyed making tractors with shapes and exploring colour and texture to make scarecrows.

In PE this week, the children have been introduced to football skills and are continuing to enjoy yoga.
