Year 1 explore colour mixing in art

Year 1 has worked super hard this week!!! In English we proofread our stories and discussed ways to improve our writing. We looked at ways to add more adjectives and time conjunctions to help our stories sound even more interesting.

In Maths we were focusing on subtraction within ten. We have explored subtraction in a range of scenarios. We have practised counting how many are left, breaking apart a whole and finding the difference.

During our Art lesson we further explored colour mixing and we used our imaginations to paint our own pictures.

In Science we continued our discovery about the senses and this week we were thinking about sound (and hearing). We looked at different types of instruments and discussed ways in which the instruments make a noise. We were interested to hear that two maracas made very different sounds and came up with interesting ideas as to why. At the end of our lesson we had a little concert using our own instruments. We are excited to take our instruments to our next music lesson to show off our new musical skills.
