Year 1 do some problem solving in Maths

This week we enjoyed a drama lesson in the Forest School area as a way to explore the setting in our new class text Journey. We went to a magical land on a boat together and found an enormous castle! We used this experience to write about our journey.

In Maths we are learning how to use a part-whole model to solve addition problems. We then moved on to compare different number sentences using the symbols < and >.

During our Learning for life sessions we have been recognising and describing feelings. This helped us to think about how our actions and words can make others feel. We also thought about things we are proud of and had lots of fantastic things to say!

In Science we focussed on our sense of touch and described the textures of different objects in a feely bag. The children enjoyed using their senses to describe the different textures. They were all very surprised when the hidden object was finally revealed.
