Year 1 focus on comparing and measuring objects

We started off this week by focusing on comparing and measuring the height and length of objects using non-standard and standard units of measure. We have explored how to accurately compare and measure and understand the importance of aligning starting points.

In English we have enjoyed the story “A Squash and a Squeeze.” We have ordered the story, rewritten the story and created speech bubbles, thinking of things the animals might have said during the story. We made puppets of our characters and then we re-read the story using voices and expression to bring the words of the animals to life. Now we are getting more fluent in our reading we can start to use expression to engage the listener. Today we visited our Take One Picture Display and were very proud of our work. We hope you enjoyed seeing it too. What an amazing week Year 1 have had!
