Year 1 learn about Captain Robert Falcon Scott

This week Year 1 have learnt about another adventurous explorer, Captain Robert Falcon Scott. The children have had a lot of fun working together to think of questions that they would have liked to have asked Captain Scott about his expedition to Antarctica. Children were then supported to answer their own questions by looking at copies of images taken from Captain Scott’s actual adventures.

We have also been busy exploring Arctic animals in our English lessons, where we have read the story ‘The Polar Bear Son ‘ by Lydia Dabcovich and found out some interesting Polar bear facts. These facts were then used by the children to write simple descriptive sentences using adjectives, commas and conjunctions.
