Year 1 - Letters to Reception Class
It is that time of the year when we are starting to reflect on this year’s events. And what a year it’s been! We are immensely proud of the children’s progress and it has been delightful to read their memories in the letters they have written to the Reception children who will be moving up next year. The Year 1 children have learnt how to write a letter including a greeting, the date, content and how to finish the letter appropriately. We then visited the Reception classes and shared our letters with them. We hope they are as excited when the Year 2 children reciprocate and visit us.
In Maths we are continuing to practise and consolidate telling the time with the emphasis on reading o’clock and half past and completing written word problems such as working out how to draw the time half an hour from a given hour.
Learning for Life has been challenging for some children this week as we were learning to use and understand appropriate anatomical terminology. Some found it difficult to keep their giggles in check, but they completed the tasks and have learnt new vocabulary.
