Year 1's trip to Chiltern Open Air Museum
Our trip to the Chiltern Open Air was absolutely great – we even had dry weather! The children were excited to see some of the houses, such as the Toll House and the Prefab that they have been learning about.
One of the highlights was spending time in the Iron Age house, grinding wheat, making bread, churning cream into butter and making clay pots to take home. The making of our own bricks and then using them to make a wall was equally fun, especially when Mr Craven’s handmade clay monkey was laid on top!
This visit really brings our topic to life and provides the children with hands on experience which enhances both their knowledge and writing.
