Year 2 catch a case of Christmas fever

Christmas fever has really caught on this week in Year two and we hope you are all looking forward to seeing our Christmas production this afternoon at Great Missenden Hall. Whilst we have been busy preparing for the big show, we’ve also had time to explore instruction writing in English this week. This has resulted in some very bossy commands given in the classroom (most of which, the teachers managed to follow well!) We explored how imperative (bossy) verbs appear at the start of the sentence when a command is given and how some instructions can even include an exclamation mark, depending on how bossy they mean to be. We made some festive robins for our classroom and then wrote our own set of instructions on how to do it.

We’ve had great fun acting out our punctuation with the help of ‘Kung Fu Panda’ this week. Please ask your child/children to act out the moves for; capital letter, full stop, comma, speech marks, question mark, exclamation mark and apostrophe at home (although, you might want to take a step back first!)

We know that Year 2 will make us all proud in the Christmas production today - they have worked so hard, so a big well done all around!!
