Year 2 - Tasting tea and traditional tales
It has been delightful to have the children back in the classroom and they have had so much fun chatting and catching up with their friends. In English, we have been reading the story of Little Red Riding Hood and learning it off by heart with actions. During Drama, we went outside into the Forest School area to act out the story of Little Red Riding Hood, using the trees as natural props. A focus this week has been on using expanded noun phrases to describe the characters, especially the wolf. Then the children used their brilliant language to create a Wanted Poster for the wolf.
Topic lessons have continued to be an exciting journey through India. This week we learned about how tea is produced and the children were able to try Assam, Darjeeling and Ceylon tea. Some funny faces showed what Year 2 really thought about the different varieties!
In Science, as part of Science Week, we have been investigating the best biscuits for dunking. The children designed their own investigation by dunking different kinds of biscuits in water and timing how long it took for the cookie to crumble.
