Year 4 enjoy a varied week as writers, mathematicians and scientists
As writers, we have thought carefully about techniques to engage the reader in information texts. We enjoyed creating catchy and informative titles and subheadings, with some of us using alliteration or questions to “hook” the reader. We also discussed and planned an attractive layout for our texts. We were incredibly proud of our work, which we displayed in a class museum.
As mathematicians, we have been looking at what happens when we multiply and how to use a variety of strategies and methods. We particularly enjoyed using the grid method to multiply larger numbers, especially because we covered the classroom with examples of our fantastic work.
As scientists, we have been exploring why it is important to classify different species of living organisms as they are discovered. We then became scientists ourselves, and worked together to create branching keys to helps us identify new species.
