Year 4 enjoy poetry performances!

It has been lovely to be back in school with year 4 and working with so many of the children face to face this week! They have been busy writing stories, completing maths investigations, thinking of invention ideas and reflecting on their experiences over the last few months. The time spent together this week gave the children a great opportunity to perform the poems they had been busy learning at home. We really enjoyed listening to each other recite a wide range of different poems and were impressed with the efforts that everyone had made to learn these poems off by heart, which is not an easy task! Having observed Michael Rosen’s engaging performance techniques, the children then tried to inject some of these skills into their own poetry recitals, focusing on the use of facial and hand gestures, as well as tone of voice, to convey expression. We are sure that the children will continue to develop these skills further as they enter the senior school.
