Year 4 - Explore the impact of deforestation
As part of our Rainforest topic, Year 4 have learned about something that has a huge impact on the world we live in: deforestation. We used our research skills to find out about the causes of deforestation and the effects of this. ‘The Great Kapok Tree’ explores this area through the eyes of rainforest animals and provides a series of significant reasons why the rainforests should be protected.
After reading this story, the children decided how they could improve it and in our classes, we are creating our own ‘Great Kapok Tree’ book. Learning about the effect of deforestation has really engaged the children. It has encouraged them to voice their opinions and discuss how to act to protect our climate.
