Year 4 - Predicting and investigating
Year 4 have noticed that some children can jump further than others and that some children can hold a heavy weight for longer than others. Since we are also studying the human skeleton we wondered if there is a link between our bone lengths or our height to some of these skills. So we have designed our own investigations, making a prediction, explaining how we were going to keep it a fair test and what materials we would need. In the pictures you can see lots of these activities. We were surprised by some of the results and in our conclusions wrote about possible reasons that the prediction and results were not the same. In Amy’s group they were not expecting that the tallest person would not necessarily jump the highest. Amy thought it might be something to do with how ‘springy’ the person was. Perhaps you could try this investigation at home: “Can people with bigger hands do more press ups?”
