Year 4 - work hard and play hard

In Year 4, we have had a lot of fun this week as we prepared for Christmas. We struck a deal on Monday during registration - work hard each morning and then enjoy a fun, festive activity every afternoon.

Each morning, the children in 4KD take a chocolate coin from the advent reindeer and read a short part of the Christmas story from tiny advent books.

On Monday, we loved taking part in the Santa Dash organised by our wonderful PE department. We donned a variety of head gear for this and everybody ran brilliantly, completing an average of 16 laps each! No wonder they all look so rosy cheeked in the photo.

The jar tombola was much anticipated throughout Tuesday and carried out very fairly using lolly sticks and numbers on the bottom of the jars to make it as random as possible.

Cracker making tested our cutting and folding skills particularly well on Wednesday and on Thursday we made a Christmas decoration to hang on the Christmas tree. Children showed the cork figures they had made and we all loved Ellie’s reindeer with its antlers made from grape stalks sprayed with gold!

Finally, Christmas jumper day on Friday, with a full Christmas roast for lunch and games in class afterwards.

We have had a busy term and the children have made us all proud of their many and varied achievements. They need a rest!

We hope you all have a relaxing, safe and happy Christmas, from the Year 4 team.
