Year 4 work hard to… | Independent Primary School Buckinghamshire

Year 4 work hard to perfect their performances!

Over the last two weeks, Year 4 have been busy preparing for their English Speaking Board exams. Having observed Michael Rosen's engaging performance techniques, the children then tried to inject some of these skills into their own poetry recitals, focusing on the use of facial and hand gestures, as well as tone of voice, to convey expression.

The children have also enjoyed discussing their chosen topics and objects for their talks. Classes brainstormed ideas for areas they may wish to include and everyone made some bullet-point notes as a prompt, to help us get started. We also began to think of different, interesting ways of starting our talks and considered how to organise ideas into a logical order, to develop a clear structure and help us to speak fluently.

Advice from class teachers will be shared with your child and it would be really helpful if you could support them with actioning this during frequent, short practice sessions at home. Thank you for your support with this. We are really looking forward to watching the Year 4 performances on June 24th!
