Year 5 - Archaeology and hieroglyphs
Year 5 have had a fascinating few weeks learning about the Maya! We had a second visit from the Maya archaeologist - Dr Diane Davies which was just as amazing as the first visit. Her knowledge and passion was fascinating to listen to and so engaging. If you would like to find out more information at home her website is: https://www.mayaarchaeologist.co.uk. She has lots of videos and really exciting projects on there. We continued our study of the Maya this week in school with a particular focus on hieroglyphs. The children were extremely interested to learn that the Maya had several different symbols for each syllable. We had a go at making some words using the Maya symbols and the children did a great job of drawing detailed glyphs. We can't wait to have a go at the Maya ball game when we are back in school.
