Year 5 - Ghosts of the Battle of San Romano
An extended Take One Picture week saw children in Year 5 working hard to create a light installation this week. Based on a medieval lantern design, the children used their woodwork skills to produce a timber frame for their own lanterns. Using shapes from Uccello’s painting, they went on to cut out silhouettes to decorate the sides. Once lit, the lanterns create a mysterious, ghosty effect, reminding us of the knights who fought bravely in the Battle of San Romano in 1432. There were plenty of challenges with this technical activity and the children all showed great patience and perseverance as they worked and happily helped and supported their peers. You can see the final installation on Friday 6th March in the school hall between 3pm and 6pm.
