Year 5 have a go at the art of persuasive writing

Year 5 have had a very interesting week learning about advertising and the art of persuasive writing. They have looked at and discussed many modern advertisements and examined the way that they entice and persuade. This has included understanding about the use of slogans, celebrity endorsement, imperative and superlative language and good visual layout. Because the children are learning about the Victorian era in History and reading Street Child in English, they decided to create a Victorian advertisement, for a lotion or potion. This required the use of specific vocabulary, that would give the poster authenticity. They have now written some super Dragon’s Den style pitches to a potential buyer. I hope you may be able to come into the classroom, at the end of term, and see their display.
