Year 5 study the author Michael Morpurgo
Earlier in the half term, Year 5 were set the challenge of researching our focus author, Michael Morpurgo, and representing what had been learnt in any way they chose. This week saw the culmination of these efforts, and what a wonderful range of presentations we had. Some children chose to make a quiz, some re-enacted scenes from Morpurgo books, some made information books, many created beautiful works of art. Among the more unusual entries were a battle scene and information about the theme of war in Morpurgo’s writing, a book of poems based on his best selling novels, a pop-up ‘Peggy Sue’ and a Michael Morpurgo rap. We all agreed that by the end of the project and presentations, we all knew a great deal more about this brilliant children’s author. Well done Year 5 - it’s always such a pleasure to see what fantastic ideas you have when you are given a challenge such as this.
