Year 6 explore Maths through nature
Year 6 are set on a wonderful week of Inspirational Maths, where they will explore mathematics as a creative and multi-dimensional subject with links to nature, through the Fibonacci sequence; use of pattern in architecture; and visual representations in the real world, including hexagonal numbers in the honeycomb pattern of a beehive.
They have generalised patterns, algebraically, from patterns that they created with cubes and explored the ‘nth term’. Discussion has also focused on having a ‘Growth Mindset’, believing that there is no limit to what we can achieve and that we can all do maths!
