Year 6 fun with flight
Year 6 became aeronautical engineers last week, learning about the basic principles of lift, thrust, weight and drag. Pupils then built and tested their own paper aeroplanes multiple times, each time improving on the aerodynamics of their design in order to increase the distance of flight. At the time of writing, the current Gateway School Paper Aeroplane Record Holder is Danica Forster, with an impressive flight distance of 24m. Well done Danica, although you have a way to go yet to beat the World Record distance of 69.14m!
