Year 6 head to The Houses of Parliament
On Wednesday, the Year 6 pupils were lucky enough to visit the Houses of Parliament. Upon arrival we were broken up into four groups and were given a tour which included the Queen's robing room, the Lord's work office, the House of Lords and the oldest part of the building that was used as the dining hall at Hogwarts!
After the tour we were involved in a workshop that taught us about the process of creating and passing laws. We also had a visit from Dame Cheryl Gillan's researcher, he talked to us about the work that she does and how he managed to get a job working for her. After a speedy lunch in the park outside we were back on the coach and heading for home.
The visit gave our Year 6 pupils a valuable insight into the history and the importance of parliament in the United Kingdom.
