Year 6 - The end of an era!

It is hard to believe that the children’s time at Gateway is coming to an end. No matter how long they have been with us, each and every child has left their mark. They have had an exceptionally busy end to the term packed full of interesting activities. From their team building, challenge and leadership day, to the wonderful Mary Poppins production. They end their year and their time with us on a real high, excited to see what awaits them in their new adventures.

During art this term, the artwork of renowned Contemporary British artists Frank Bowling and Sonia Boyce have inspired the children. They loved the freedom of working expressively, pouring and flicking paint in one activity and choosing important words with a personal meaning to illustrate another. For the Coronation, year 6 sewed using blanket stitch and made attractive cushions to commemorate the event.

In Design Technology, the children have constructed architectural models of Tudor houses and used their electrical wiring skills to design and make motorised buggies. The pupils who participate in the Art and Design Club have also contributed to the manufacture of a variety of props for the school play. I will miss your children and hope they continue to enjoy their Design Technology lessons in their new schools.
