Under 11 B and Under 10 B Football vs Our Lady B, Friendly - 8 March 2017

Under 11 B vs Our Lady B

The boys were very excited about this match and both midfields battled hard for control of the game. Tackling was tough but generally fair. With little time or space on the ball passing was a little scrappy at times. With space at a premium in the centre of the pitch, both sides started spreading the ball and mounting good attacks down the wings. Stan C forays down the right helped create several good chances and he, Josh B and Charlie B all had shots saved by the goalie or missed narrowly.

In defence, Marcus H, Thomas T and Jack I worked well to kept out the Our Lady attack, restricting them to a couple of chances.

The game was finely balanced but late in the second half, it was Our Lady who finally broke the deadlock, scoring from close range. The boys fought hard for an equaliser but Our Lady held out.

Under 10 B vs Our Lady B

This match was very similar to the Year 6 game. Both teams were really fired up and quick to close down space and tackle. Gateway’s midfield: Hugh P, Alex C and Fred H moved the ball well and created chances with several players coming close to scoring. The score was still 0-0 at half-time.

In the second half, Gateway were slightly more dominant and mounted a series of promising attacks with Our Lady looking dangerous on the counter. After a good passing move, Alex C was put through and fired home beating the goalie. Five minutes later, Harrison J also latched on to a nicely placed through ball to slot home Gateway’s second goal.
