2.6 Challenge

2.6 Challenge

We have been overwhelmed by the number of brilliant videos and photos of Gateway children getting active during their time at home and it really does brighten up our day when we see that our ideas for physical activity are being put to good use.

Last Friday we launched the 2.6 Challenge that was linked to the London Marathon and more specifically to raise money for the charities that would ordinarily have benefitted from the event. We were supporting the local charity MapAction who help save lives and alleviate suffering for people affected by humanitarian emergencies.

The task was to come up with and complete a challenge for yourself to do that was linked to the numbers 2 and 6. There were some very imaginative ideas and also some incredible efforts, even some teachers got involved. Special mentions should go to Rufus who ran a full marathon in his garden across the week, Sam R who did the same distance but walking, Katie A who cycled 26 miles on a single ride and Sam P who managed to do a triathlon.

The current total that we have raised is £296 using the Gateway Virgin Money link which is still open: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GatewaySchool. Thank you to everyone who put so much effort into the challenge and for all the sponsorship that was received. You can take a look at our Twitter page @gateway2sport to see some of the 2.6 challenges we completed.
