Reception - Who would find the Golden Ticket?

Reception - Who would find the Golden Ticket?

ReceptionReception children have been taking part in different activities based around our story of this week 'Oi, get off our train!' written by John Burningham. We have been thinking about ordinal numbers and who out of the animals boarded the train 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We have used the word 'total' during class discussions. As part of our Topic lessons we have been thinking about lots of different modes of transport and how they move, either on the land, in the air or on the sea. The children thoroughly enjoyed Roald Dahl day on Friday, focussing on the story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, as many children have seen both the theatre production and the original film. We all had great fun coming up with ideas of what our ideal first prize would be if we found our very own Golden Ticket.

Next week, Reception will be listening to another super story written by John Burningham called 'Mr Gumpy's Outing'. We will be using this story to think about sequencing and repeating patterns as well as acting out our own scenes from the story during role play. We will be continuing the theme of seasons by discussing different types of holidays and some of the items you may need for a summer and a winter holiday and how they might differ.

On Friday 3rd October we will be going to Bekonscot Model visit for our first trip out; let’s hope the sun shines. Please may we remind you to send your child to school with a clearly named packed lunch in a plastic bag. We will be throwing everything away after lunch so please do not send in any containers.
