Year 5 children have been researching the author, Michael Morpurgo, this term. As part of this study, they have also read Kensuke’s Kingdom which, characteristically of Morpurgo’s work, is a wonderful adventure story about a voyage. It takes its main character to an exotic island where he encounters someone with an incredible story to tell. Having reached an exciting chapter, during which the main character has been cast overboard and is lost at sea, the children have written some descriptive passages. They used all their senses and employed lots of abstract nouns to impart how Michael might have felt. The results are now displayed in the library, so please do come and enjoy them. They will be reading the book at home this week, so some support and good questioning would be much appreciated!
