Books, Books, Books!
10th February 2017
World Book Day
Gateway School will be once again celebrating World Book Day, Thursday 2 March. Children will be working in their classes and in their Library session during the week. The theme we have chosen is illustrators and in particular Axel Scheffler who has illustrated many of Julia Donaldson's stories.
On Friday 3 March the children may wish to come to school in a character costume from one of the stories he has illustrated. Alternatively they may just want to wear or carry something to represent the character of their choice. Please could your child also bring in a named copy of the book they have used as inspiration for this.
On Thursday 2 March all the children will take home their £1 book voucher. This can be used to get a book from this year's selection, to get money off another book or to exchange with Usborne.
Great Spring Book Exchange!
This term the Eco Council are planning to help you save a few trees and bring a bit of life to your dusty bookshelves.
On Thursday 2 March, we are planning to hold a Great Spring Book Exchange in the school hall.
Pupils and staff are invited to donate up to 5 unwanted children's books and will in return be given 5 green tokens which can then be exchanged for 'new' books.
We are hoping that this will be a fun way to recycle hundreds of books and save you lots of money too!
Any books left over at the end of the day will be donated to our playtime library zone!
Usborne Sponsored Read
I hope the children have already managed to arrange sponsorship and are enjoying their reading. For info and additional forms please see last week's Newsletter.
Please have forms and sponsor money in school on Wednesday 22 February. Order forms for those who have participated will then go home a week later.
Thanks for your support with this.
