Boys U9 Football Tournament at St Bernard’s School, Saturday 4 February 2017
10th February 2017
This year we returned to St Bernard’s school for the U9s football tournament. An early morning start for many parents but there were no complaints as the boys got underway. The As started out with a few tough games and were struggling to get through the opposition’s defence. After the first two games, the Gateway boys started to work the ball to get into the other half and score goals, one notable screamer scored by Zach C. The B team also found it tough on a smaller pitch but quickly found some tactics that worked for them and finished one game against Dair House 7-1.
Both teams demonstrated good ball movement and teamplay at times and some strong foundations to work on for the future. In the end a mixed bag of results meant that both teams finished in 4th place in their competitions, however, all the boys should be happy with their performance and well done to all those who took part.
