Chesham Arts Festival
12th February 2016
On Saturday 6 February, six intrepid poetry reciters set out to compete in the Chesham Arts Festival. As the reigning champions in our round, the pressure was on. The children had to perform their choice of one of the following challenging poems: 'Dulce et Decorum Est', 'The Great Escape from London Zoo' and 'The Secret Rhyme for Orange'. Brandon, Noah, Peter, William, Lucy and Tilly W. all performed confidently and presented their own individual interpretations of the poems. Like last year, it was this confidence and creativity that made our Gateway representatives really stand out. Both Tilly and Lucy received well deserved 'Honours' certificates for their efforts and the rest of the children all received high marks and praise. Tilly went on to be crowned the winner of the whole competition and will therefore be taking the winner's cup home for the second year running. I was very proud of the children and so pleased that they have become such accomplished performers. Right Years 4 and 5, it's up to you to carry on the good work next year - Gateway will be back!
