Chess Tournament - Saturday 5 March

Last Saturday Gateway hosted the first round of the English Primary Chess Association tournament. The following chess players represented Gateway.

Board 1 - Will R (Y6),
Board 2 - Thomas W (Y5),
Board 3 - Tilly W (Y6),
Board 4 - Finn C (Y5),
Board 5 - Rafe S (Y5) and Felicity B (Y4).

The team scored 9.5 points overall.

Daisy B (Y2) played her first competition game and did extremely well to finish with a draw.

The team did very well, just missing out on qualifying for the next round, finishing fourth place in the under 11’s competition. The next competition will be at Camber Sands to compete in the Plate runners up competition.
