Chiltern and South Bucks U11 League report
3rd October 2014
Hopes were high for a good start to the league season but the boys soon found themselves in a tough encounter against Elangeni. Elangeni started brightly playing some good passing football and attacking down the wings. Gateway took time to get their going and mount their own attacks. Elangeni were slightly quicker to the ball and created several good chances. They were kept at bay by some solid saves from Freddy B, brave defending and the post and crossbar! When Gateway did attack they looked threatening and several efforts came agonisingly close to scoring. Late in the first half an Elangeni pressure paid off when a probing cross deflected unkindly into the net off a Gateway defender.
In the second half, Gateway responded well competing robustly in all areas of the pitch and began to create more and more chances. It proved frustrating as several good opportunities to equalise whizzed by the post or were blocked by defenders. Once again this was another exciting match to watch with both sides competing keenly. Elangeni did enough to thwart Gateway and deserved their 1-0 victory.
