The boys played three very fast and exciting football matches, against local schools. There were abundant chances created at in all the matches by the teams and Gateway were denied by the woodwork on two occasions and some good goalkeeping. Fred H making a string of solid saves, for Gateway when attackers did breach the Gateway defence. Gateway looked more fluent in attack, than last season and with a little more passing, around the goal area, more goals might have been scored. There were some strong aspect in the team’s play but they also looked vulnerable, at times, to quick counter-attacks. The boys didn’t qualify for the finals, due to a lower goal difference, but they had battled hard and given a pleasing performance.
