Gateway Christmas Appeal

Each day 40 million African children are unable to attend school, many due to lack of school supplies. For our Christmas Appeal this year we will be supporting School Aid, a local charity who collect and transport quality surplus educational items from the UK directly to African schools in need.

Today a representative from School Aid presented an assembly to all the children about their work and told us about Project Pencil. Project Pencil is a campaign run by School Aid, which asks each child in school to fill a pencil case with vital stationery items which they can send to the schools in Africa. This will allow the children to participate in daily class work and also to sit vital school exams.

Over half term, we would be delighted if your child could fill a pencil case with a selection of the following items (in new or used condition): writing and/or coloured pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, maths equipment, rulers, set squares etc.

Please could you also include a £2 donation in the pencil case to cover shipping costs.

Filled pencil cases should then be left in H3. We will organise a collection box.

The deadline for return of your pencil case is FRIDAY 15 NOVEMBER.

I do hope that the children will enjoy getting these items together for such a worthy cause.
