Gateway vs Prestwood Football - Tuesday 28 March 2017

For many of the squad, this was their last game for Gateway and the boys went out in style, completing their league programme with a convincing win against Prestwood. Oli L scored 4 goals in the 6-1 win. He also scored the goal of the day with a left foot strike that whizzed past the keeper from 20m. It was a solid team performance, scrappy at times but the boys created a constant stream of chances and should have scored more.

All credit to the Prestwood team who won 95% of the headers and were very strong in the tackle; they battled right to the final whistle and this was far from an easy victory. Both teams showed great energy and sportsmanship during and after the match. This result should mean that Gateway finish 2nd or 3rd in the league this year, to be confirmed. Many thanks to all the parents who have turned up regularly to support the team over the last 3 years. HJ
