Girls Football ISA London North - 13th November

Gateway took three teams to the London North ISA Girls Football Tournament on Monday and what a day it turned out to be! For many of the Year 4 and Year 5 girls, this was their first competitive fixtures and excitement was high when we left for Barnet.

The Year 4 competition was divided up into two pools and after three wins and a draw, the girls topped their group. This ensured a place in the final against Gatehouse. A very closely fought game was played out, during which the girls couldn’t find a way past the opposition goalkeeper. A narrow 1 - 0 loss meant we finished as runners-up but the girls had played extremely well and we were all proud of their efforts.

In the Year 6 competition, there were four pools and once again, Gateway finished top of their group, reaching the semi-finals. Here they met the eventual winners and there was no shame in losing 3 - 1 to a very strong team. In the third place play-off, the girls finished strongly, winning 2 - 1 to end the competition in third place.

The Year 5 competition was a round-robin tournament where every team played each other. The girls started with a 2 -2 draw and never looked back - 5 victories followed, meaning that they topped the table and brought the trophy back to Gateway!

Overall it was a fantastic day of football and the girls were fantastic ambassadors for the school.
