Girls Football South Bucks Cup v Stoke Poges - Thursday 9th March 2017
17th March 2017
Stoke Poges are well known for having strong footballing sides and their girls team were no different. In the first half, Gateway applied lots of pressure with the ball spending most of the time in their half. Unfortunately, when they broke free they passed our defence to slide one by Stephanie's foot. Stoke Poges seemed to find their form this and knocked the ball around well keeping the Gateway girls on their toes. Some great defending from Zahraa and Isabel kept them out a few times and a few close calls near their goal and it really could have been anyone's game. Late in the second half, a scramble in front of our goal meant the ball was able to find its way in our goal. This secured victory for Stoke Poges, but not once did the Gateway girls stop running and trying hard to score and force the extra time. Alas, it was not to be. Good luck to Stoke Poges in the next round.
Final score
Stoke Poges 2 - Gateway 0
