Girls Football v Great Missenden (A) - Tuesday 28 February 2017
3rd March 2017
On Tuesday, the U11 girls played in their first league football fixture of the season against Great Missenden. In horrible, wet and muddy conditions, the girls came away with a 2 - 1 victory. With the ball sticking in the mud and on a sloping pitch, it took a while for the girls to get into their stride but an early goal from Abi calmed the nerves and Gateway were on the front foot for the rest of the first half, Abi scoring a deserved second goal. In the second half, Great Missenden came back strongly - only spirited tackling and defending from Isabel and Zahraa preventing Great Missenden from breaking through. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep this up and Great Missenden scored, ensuring a frantic finish to the game. Thankfully, a great team effort carried the team through to victory.
Squad: Stephanie B, Isabel M, Zahraa B, Jemma T, Amelia O, Matilda B, Abi H, Eleanor W, Lucy A
